La Cala's cantina olives are a staple of Spanish bars and home tables alike — green, briny, and casually essential. These 150-gram jars hold olives prepared in the traditional cantina style: firm, well-seasoned, and meant to be eaten straight from the jar with a drink in hand or scattered across a wooden board at the start of a meal. The Albert Adrià connection brings a chef's eye to a humble classic.

About this product

Cantina olives are harvested at their peak ripeness and cured in brine to develop their characteristic salty, slightly mineral flavor. Unlike stuffed or marinated varieties, these remain true to the olive itself — no fillings, no heavy spicing. They're shelf-stable, ready to serve, and a genuine taste of Spanish tavern culture.

How to enjoy

  • Serve chilled as a pre-dinner aperitivo with Spanish wine or vermouth.
  • Pit and toss into a tomato and onion salad.
  • Layer on a charcuterie board with jamón, cheese, and bread.
  • Add to Spanish rice dishes or paella for a salty accent.

⭐ Why we love this

These are the olives you find in every Spanish bar counter—unpretentious, perfectly brined, and unchanged for generations. The Albert Adrià partnership ensures they meet a chef's standards while keeping that authentic cantina simplicity that makes them irresistible with a cold drink.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Serve ice-cold alongside a crisp Fino sherry or a dry Spanish vermouth—the brininess amplifies the wine's mineral notes. They're equally perfect as the opening move on a tapas spread with jamón ibérico and aged Manchego cheese.

📍 From Spain

La Cala sources from Spain's premier olive regions, where the cantina style has been perfected over centuries. This particular expression carries the endorsement of Albert Adrià, the innovative force behind elBulli, bringing global recognition to a deeply Spanish tavern tradition.

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 5 / 5 from 1 reviews.

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Finca La Rosala Marcona Almonds with Rosemary – Roasted Spanish Snack – Pack of 2 (2 × 90g)

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
