Kumquats — tiny citrus fruits with a distinctive sweet-tart balance — are rarely seen outside their native regions. Club del Gourmet sources whole kumquats, candies them to preserve their natural tartness, then enrobes each one in 70% dark chocolate. The result is a small, sophisticated sweet: bitter chocolate against bright preserved fruit, finished with a whisper of citrus oil. Spanish confectioners have long understood that chocolate and fruit need not be married in cream; here, they coexist as equals.

About this product

Each candied kumquat retains its shape and subtle interior texture. The chocolate coating — 70% cacao solids, no excessive sweetness — provides structure without overwhelming the fruit. This is a confection for deliberate tasting, not mindless snacking. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the chocolate's temper.

How to enjoy

  • Serve after dinner as a petit four with strong coffee or espresso.
  • Pair with a glass of aged sherry or tawny port.
  • Gift individually wrapped to colleagues or friends who appreciate craft chocolate.
  • Crumble into plain yogurt or vanilla cream for textural contrast.

⭐ Why we love this

This is Spanish confectionery restraint at its finest—no ganache, no gilding, just the honest dialogue between preserved fruit and dark chocolate. Club del Gourmet respects the kumquat's natural tartness rather than drowning it in sugar, a philosophy rooted in Spain's tradition of elegant, unfussy sweets.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Serve alongside a glass of aged oloroso sherry or tawny port; the dried-fruit notes in the wine echo the preserved kumquat beautifully. For a lighter option, pair with strong espresso to let the citrus brightness cut through the cocoa richness.

📍 From Spain

These kumquats are sourced and candied using time-honored techniques that honor Spain's citrus heritage, particularly the quality fruit cultivated in Valencia and the Mediterranean coast.

Customer Reviews

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Finca La Rosala Marcona Almonds with Rosemary – Roasted Spanish Snack – Pack of 2 (2 × 90g)

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
