A Mar Espectacular Cockles, Large Natural 20/30 Pieces 111g

A Mar Espectacular brings Spanish coastal tradition to your table with these large natural cockles, packed fresh and minimally processed. Each 111-gram tin holds 20 to 30 plump, tender berberechos from the clean waters off the Iberian peninsula — no additives, no vinegar, just the briny sweetness of the sea.

About this product

Berberechos al natural are a beloved Spanish delicacy, particularly prized in Galicia and along the Atlantic coast. These cockles are hand-harvested, cleaned, and preserved in their own brine to maintain their delicate flavor and firm texture. The large sizing (20 to 30 pieces per tin) speaks to their quality — smaller catches are discarded. Unlike marinated or seasoned variants, the natural preparation lets you taste the mollusk itself, making them ideal for purists and for custom preparation.

How to enjoy

• Serve chilled as a tapa, perhaps with a squeeze of lemon and crusty bread.
• Add to a seafood paella or rice dish in the final minutes of cooking.
• Toss into a white-wine pasta or a Galician-style fish stew.
• Combine with mussels and clams for a mixed shellfish appetizer.
• Dress with a light vinaigrette of Iberian olive oil and sherry vinegar for a simple salad.

⭐ Why we love this

These are berberechos the way Galician fishermen have eaten them for centuries — no fussing, no masking flavors. The large 20/30 sizing proves quality and careful hand-harvesting; you're tasting the sea itself, briny and clean, which is precisely why purists prefer natural cockles for everything from tapas to paella.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Serve ice-cold with a crisp Albariño from Rías Baixas or a dry Fino sherry — the minerality of either wine mirrors the cockles' brine beautifully. Equally perfect as a casual tapa with crusty pan gallego and a squeeze of lemon before dinner, or stirred into seafood pasta at the last moment.

📍 From Spain

A Mar Espectacular sources these cockles from Spain's Atlantic coast, where Galician and Portuguese waters produce some of Europe's finest berberechos. Hand-harvested and minimally processed in Spain, they arrive at your table tasting of nothing but the cold northern sea.
