Sampaka's Tanzanian dark chocolate is a single-origin bar that speaks for itself. At 77% cacao, it balances the earthy richness of East African beans with just enough cocoa butter to melt cleanly on the palate. The bar is thin enough to snap between your fingers, substantial enough to linger.

About this product

Sampaka sources cacao from Tanzania's volcanic soils, where altitude and climate coax out subtle fruit notes beneath the chocolate's dark character. Each 75-gram bar is crafted without unnecessary additions — just cacao, cocoa butter, sugar, and cocoa solids in proportion. The result is a chocolate that tastes like its origin: neither too bitter nor too sweet, with a faint suggestion of red berries in the finish.

How to enjoy

  • Break a square and let it dissolve slowly with your afternoon coffee.
  • Pair with aged manchego or a dry fino sherry for a tasting moment.
  • Crumble over vanilla panna cotta or yogurt for depth.
  • Keep a bar in your desk for moments that need a brief pause.

⭐ Why we love this

Sampaka represents Barcelona's artisanal chocolate heritage at its finest—a brand that sources single-origin cacao and honors each bean's terroir rather than masking it with excess sugar or additives. At 77%, this Tanzanian bar achieves what Spanish chocolatiers prize: restraint and purity, letting volcanic East African soil speak through the cocoa solids.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Pair this with a glass of aged Amontillado sherry or a full-bodied Spanish red from Rioja—the chocolate's subtle berry notes and clean snap complement oxidative wines beautifully. For a lighter moment, serve alongside manchego cheese or after a meal as a small meditation with espresso.

📍 From Spain

Crafted in Barcelona by Sampaka, one of Spain's most respected chocolate makers since 1997, each bar brings Catalan chocolate-making mastery to Tanzanian cacao. While the beans are sourced directly from Tanzania's high-altitude farms, the artistry—tempering, snap, and flavor balance—is pure Spanish tradition.

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 5 / 5 from 1 reviews.

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Finca La Rosala Marcona Almonds with Rosemary – Roasted Spanish Snack – Pack of 2 (2 × 90g)

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
