Prada a tope brings the Galician chestnut harvest to the jar in its simplest, most elegant form: whole roasted chestnuts suspended in a light syrup. These aren't candied confections but rather chestnuts treated with restraint, allowing their natural sweetness and tender texture to shine. At 250 grams, a jar holds enough for a handful of servings—perfect for finishing a cheese board, stirring into yogurt, or eating straight from the spoon on a quiet afternoon.

About this product

Chestnuts in syrup occupy a particular place in Spanish larders: they're neither dessert nor preserve in the jam sense, but rather a storecupboard luxury. Prada a tope has long been known for respecting the chestnut itself, not drowning it in sugar. The syrup is gentle sweetness, there to preserve and complement rather than mask. Store the jar in a cool place, and the chestnuts will keep for months, ready whenever you want something both comforting and slightly refined.

How to enjoy

  • Serve chilled on a cheese board alongside manchego or a creamy blue.
  • Spoon over vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt for a simple dessert.
  • Add to a winter salad of endive, walnuts, and blue cheese.
  • Pair with a glass of sweet wine or aged brandy.

⭐ Why we love this

Prada a Tope respects the chestnut as Spain's autumn treasure—roasted whole and cradled in restraint rather than drowning in sugar. This is how Galicia has preserved its harvest for generations: a storecupboard luxury that tastes like the chestnut itself, elevated but never fussy.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Serve alongside a creamy manchego or Cabrales blue cheese for an effortless cheese board finale, or pair with a glass of aged brandy or Pedro Ximénez sherry for an afternoon treat. The gentle sweetness complements aged wines beautifully without competing.

📍 From Spain

These chestnuts come directly from Galicia, Spain's heartland of chestnut cultivation in the northwest. Prada a Tope has built its reputation sourcing the finest Galician varieties and treating them with the minimal intervention they deserve—a regional producer devoted to one thing done perfectly.

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 5 / 5 from 1 reviews.

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Finca La Rosala Marcona Almonds with Rosemary – Roasted Spanish Snack – Pack of 2 (2 × 90g)

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
