A thin, brittle almond wafer under a dark chocolate shell that snaps clean — then the Marcona almond comes through, toasted and sweet, against 53.9% cocoa. Moscovitas are made one at a time by hand in Oviedo, from a recipe the master confectioners at Rialto have kept to themselves for decades.

About this product

This is the dark chocolate version, in the dark box — a deeper, less sweet counterpart to the classic. The wafer itself is barely there: almond, cream, sugar and a little wheat flour, baked paper-thin so it shatters rather than crumbles. Selected Marcona almonds make up 17% of each piece, which is what gives them their character — Marcona is rounder and sweeter than an ordinary almond, and Spain keeps most of the crop for itself.

How to enjoy

  • Alongside a glass of dry oloroso or Pedro Ximénez sherry.

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information.
