Migaya brings the warmth of Spain's beloved torrija — that golden-fried, egg-soaked bread beloved during Easter — into a crispy chocolate shell. Each bombón layers hazelnut-studded nougat with the caramelized sweetness of cinnamon and cream, finished in dark chocolate. It's a nostalgic bite: the crackle of the shell, the gentle give of the filling, and that distinctive torrija spice that lingers.

These hand-crafted bombones are a specialty of Migaya, a Madrid-based chocolatier with decades of tradition. The torrija flavour is seasonal in spirit but available year-round — a reminder that some Spanish tastes transcend the calendar. Each 180-gram box makes a generous gift or a treat to be savoured slowly over coffee or after dinner.

How to enjoy

  • Pair with strong black coffee or hot chocolate on a winter morning.
  • Serve as an after-dinner sweet with a small glass of Pedro Ximénez sherry.
  • Gift in the original box — the presentation honours the product's artisanal roots.
  • Store in a cool place and enjoy within the printed best-before date for optimal texture and flavour.

⭐ Why we love this

Migaya has captured the soul of torrija — Spain's most iconic Easter delicacy — in chocolate form, a feat that requires both technical skill and deep respect for tradition. The marriage of hazelnut nougat, cinnamon spice, and dark chocolate shell honours the original while creating something entirely new, proof that Spanish confectionery innovation flows from cultural roots, not trends.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Serve alongside a glass of Pedro Ximénez sherry for an elegant contrast — the wine's raisined sweetness plays beautifully against the torrija spice and dark chocolate. Alternatively, enjoy with strong café con leche in the morning, or after a traditional Spanish dinner as a petit four.

📍 From Spain

Crafted in Madrid by Migaya, a chocolatier steeped in Spanish confectionery tradition for decades. The brand's mastery of seasonal flavours — translating the ephemeral joy of Easter torrijas into year-round bombones — reflects Madrid's position as a centre of Spanish gastronomic innovation.

Customer Reviews

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Finca La Rosala Marcona Almonds with Rosemary – Roasted Spanish Snack – Pack of 2 (2 × 90g)

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
