La Mancha Saffron Threads, Karkom DOP Spanish Spice 2g

Saffron from La Mancha is the world's finest — deeper in colour, richer in flavour, and more potent than any other. Karkom sources threads from the sun-baked plains south of Madrid, where the delicate red stigmas are hand-harvested each autumn and dried with meticulous care. Two grams yields twenty to thirty servings of paella, risotto, or bouillabaisse.

About this product

La Mancha saffron carries Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) status, a guarantee of both terroir and method. Karkom's threads are whole, unground, and free of adulterants — you brew them fresh in warm broth or water to release their honeyed, slightly earthy notes. The colour is a burnished copper-red, and the aroma is unmistakable: subtle floral undertones with a whisper of smoke.

How to enjoy

• Steep threads in warm broth or water for five minutes, then stir into rice dishes.
• Add to seafood soups, especially Mediterranean fish broths.
• Infuse into cream sauces for chicken or mushrooms.
• Brew a small pinch in hot milk or tea for a traditional Spanish comfort drink.

⭐ Why we love this

La Mancha saffron is Spain's liquid gold — the DOP designation ensures these threads are hand-harvested and dried by tradition, not industrial shortcuts. Karkom's whole threads deliver the full spectrum of saffron's character: honeyed sweetness, earthy depth, and that unmistakable floral whisper that transforms a simple paella into something transcendent.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Steep this into a classic seafood paella and serve alongside a crisp Verdejo from Rueda, or use it to elevate a creamy mushroom risotto paired with a light Tempranillo. For authentic Spanish tradition, brew a pinch in hot milk with a cinnamon stick — a warming merienda ritual beloved across La Mancha.

📍 From Spain

Sourced exclusively from La Mancha's sun-baked plains south of Madrid, where saffron has been cultivated for centuries. This region's DOP-protected harvest represents less than 3% of the world's saffron supply, making each thread a testament to Spain's uncompromised commitment to quality and terroir.
