La Catedral de Navarra white asparagus arrives in glass jars as thick, pale spears — the hallmark of Navarre's riverside tradition. These are extra-large specimens, graded 6/8 (meaning 6 to 8 spears per 325-gram jar), packed in their own light brine to preserve delicacy and snap. A Spanish tapas board staple and a centerpiece for the discerning cook.

About this product

White asparagus grows beneath mounded earth, shielded from sunlight, which keeps it tender and mild. Navarre's climate and rich soil produce some of Spain's most prized varieties. These spears are harvested at peak thickness, blanched, and jarred fresh — a labour-intensive product that rewards simplicity in the kitchen. The brine is minimal, allowing the natural flavor to dominate.

How to enjoy

  • Serve chilled as a tapa with jamón and a squeeze of lemon.
  • Pair with a vinaigrette of sherry vinegar and Dijon mustard for a light side dish.
  • Grill briefly and dress with aged balsamic and fleur de sel for a warm appetizer.
  • Add to a composed salad with hard-boiled eggs and anchovy dressing.
  • Enjoy straight from the jar as a refreshing snack during Spanish aperitivo hour.

⭐ Why we love this

La Catedral de Navarra represents the pinnacle of Spanish white asparagus craftsmanship—each jar contains spears so pristine they rival fresh-cut vegetables, yet with the convenience of year-round availability. This is the vegetable that graced Spanish royal tables, prized for its delicate sweetness and the labor that coaxes perfection from Navarre's earth.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Serve these chilled as a refined tapa with a glass of crisp Txakoli from the Basque Country, or warm them gently and pair with a dry Amontillado sherry for an elegant aperitivo. Their subtle earthiness also complements aged Spanish Manchego cheese beautifully on a composed board.

📍 From Spain

Grown in Navarre's Ebro Valley—Spain's white asparagus heartland—these spears benefit from the region's mineral-rich alluvial soils and carefully controlled microclimate. La Catedral de Navarra sources exclusively from certified local producers, maintaining the exacting standards that have made Navarre's asparagus legendary since the 18th century.

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 5 / 5 from 1 reviews.

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
