Güeyumar Grilled Squid in Ink, Spanish Conserva, Pack of 2 (2 × 200g)

Güeyumar brings the Cantabrian tradition of calamares en su tinta to a 200-gram tin with genuine conviction. Tender squid grilled over oak and finished in its own ink creates a dish that tastes neither rushed nor over-manipulated — just the sea, salt, and smoke, held in glass until your table.

About this product

Squid caught off the northern coast is cleaned, grilled to develop a light char, then preserved in a sauce made from its own ink, paprika, and garlic. The result is a conserva that works equally well straight from the tin with crusty bread, stirred into rice, or folded into pasta. The ink enriches without overwhelming; the grilled flavor persists across the palate.

How to enjoy

• Serve chilled or at room temperature as a tapa alongside Albariño or txakoli.
• Toss into short pasta (pappardelle, penne) with a squeeze of lemon and olive oil.
• Spoon over creamy mashed potato or polenta for depth and umami.
• Layer into a seafood rice dish (arroz negro) in the final minutes of cooking.

⭐ Why we love this

This is conserva craftsmanship at its finest—Güeyumar honors the Cantabrian tradition of calamares en su tinta without compromise, grilling each squid to develop authentic char before preserving it in its own ink. The result is a tin that tastes like the northern Spanish coast: smoky, briny, and deeply umami-rich in a way only true squid ink can deliver.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Serve as a traditional tapa with a crisp Albariño from Rías Baixas or a mineral txakoli from the Basque Country—the wine's acidity cuts through the ink's richness beautifully. For dinner, toss into arroz negro or fold into creamy polenta to let the grilled squid's smoky depth shine alongside earthy undertones.

📍 From Spain

Sourced directly from Cantabria, Spain's legendary squid fishing region along the Bay of Biscay, where the cold Atlantic waters produce some of Europe's most prized calamares. Güeyumar's commitment to grilling and traditional ink preservation reflects the artisanal methods still practiced in this rugged maritime province.
