Quantity

These are the larger of the two cockle grades Güeyu Mar tin: 30 to 38 pieces, where the medium tin holds 40 to 50. The cockles come from Noia, on the Galician coast, and each one is grilled over an artisanal blend of birch, beech and oak before being packed in Arbequina extra virgin olive oil from Torre de Canena, with a little guindilla chilli.

How to enjoy

Room temperature, out of the tin, with a spoonful of their own oil over them. The guindilla is already in the tin, so nothing needs adding.

No cooking. Bread, and something cold and dry to drink.

Why we love this

Cockles are usually sold by the count, and the count is the whole point. At 30 to 38 pieces these are large enough to eat one at a time rather than by the spoonful, which is what the grill work is for in the first place.

Three woods, not charcoal, and Arbequina oil rather than a neutral filler.

Shipping & guarantee

Free worldwide shipping from Spain with tracking. Duties and customs charges are included, so there are no unexpected import costs. If a local carrier nevertheless requires an import payment, send us the official payment request or receipt and we'll reimburse the eligible charge.

Your parcel is handed over against a signature — that is what keeps it secure on the way from Spain. If nobody is home, the carrier leaves a notice; at rural addresses this can mean collecting the parcel from your local post office.

Freshness & money-back guarantee: If your order arrives damaged, past its best, or not as described, we'll refund or replace it.

Iberian Direct ships authentic Spanish products directly from Spain to customers worldwide, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 5 / 5 from 1 reviews.

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Finca La Rosala Marcona Almonds with Rosemary – Roasted Spanish Snack – Pack of 2 (2 × 90g)

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
