Dark chocolate turrón from Confitería Rialto in Oviedo — the Asturian house behind Moscovitas, the thin almond wafer that made the city's name in sweets. This is that same dark chocolate set as a turrón bar: smooth, glossy and firm enough to snap.

About this product

Rialto is a confectioner in Oviedo, in the northern region of Asturias, and Moscovitas — wafer-thin almond biscuits under a chocolate coating — are what the house is known for across Spain. This is their dark chocolate in the traditional turrón bar format, presented in the black Turrón de Moscovitas Dark box. Turrón is Spain's Christmas confection, but this one keeps just as well the rest of the year.

How to enjoy

  • Break off a piece and take it with strong black coffee or espresso.
  • Pair with a glass of amontillado or oloroso sherry.
  • Crumble over vanilla ice cream for a simple dessert.
  • Give as a gift — the black presentation box needs no wrapping.

⭐ Why we love this

Rialto could have stopped at Moscovitas. Instead they took the dark chocolate side of that recipe and set it as turrón — a Christmas format from the Mediterranean south, made by a house in the rainy north. It is not a traditional turrón and does not pretend to be one; it is a Rialto chocolate that happens to come in a bar.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Amontillado sherry is the natural match — its dry, nutty edge holds up to the dark chocolate without competing. For something simpler, strong espresso.

📍 From Spain

Oviedo, Asturias, on Spain's green Atlantic coast. Rialto's Moscovitas are the sweet the region is known for, sold in its own boxes across Spain and rarely found outside the country.

Customer Reviews

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Finca La Rosala Marcona Almonds with Rosemary – Roasted Spanish Snack – Pack of 2 (2 × 90g)

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
