Dabiz Muñoz, the acclaimed chef behind Michelin-starred El Club Allard in Madrid, reimagines turrón with this savory-sweet pizza-inspired creation. The XO line pushes traditional nougat into unexpected territory: a margarita turrón that marries the simplicity of tomato, mozzarella, and basil flavors in a soft, melt-on-the-tongue confection. It's not a dessert for everyone — it's a dessert for those curious enough to embrace a chef's vision.

Each 250-gram bar is handcrafted using time-honored turrón techniques, then layered with surprising aromatics that echo the Italian classic. The texture sits somewhere between traditional Jijona softness and a delicate nougat mousse. Dabiz Muñoz's XO collection represents a modern Spanish take on a centuries-old treat, created for the adventurous palate.

How to enjoy

  • Slice and serve as an after-dinner petit four with espresso or a dry sherry.
  • Pair with aged Manchego cheese for a savory-sweet tasting course.
  • Break into pieces for a conversation-starting dessert board.

⭐ Why we love this

This is turrón reimagined by one of Spain's most innovative chefs—a boundary-pushing twist on a tradition dating back to medieval Moorish Spain. Dabiz Muñoz transforms nougat into edible art, proving that Spanish confectionery craftsmanship extends far beyond nostalgia into bold, modern territory.

🍷 Pairing suggestion

Serve alongside a chilled glass of dry Manzanilla sherry or a light Vermouth—the wine's salinity and aromatics echo the savory notes of tomato and basil in the turrón. Alternatively, pair with a strong espresso to cut through the sweetness and enhance the umami complexity.

📍 From Spain

Crafted in Spain by Dabiz Muñoz's team, this turrón honors the legacy of nougat-making that centers on Alicante and Jijona, yet elevates it with contemporary gastronomy. The XO collection represents Madrid's culinary innovation meeting Spain's most treasured confectionery heritage.

Customer Reviews

The USPS required a signature on the delivery. This was unknown to me. I had to drive 30+ mile to retrieve the item, vice delivery to my address.

Finca La Rosala Marcona Almonds with Rosemary – Roasted Spanish Snack – Pack of 2 (2 × 90g)

Store owner replied: Thank you for the five stars, James, and I'm sorry about that drive. Our parcels travel as tracked international post with Correos in Spain, and USPS takes over for delivery in the US. We don't ask for a signature when we post, but it turns out USPS releases these parcels against one. At most addresses that just means signing at the door; in your case the delivery didn't go through, so USPS held it at the nearest post office, and that cost you a long trip. The surprise is partly on us, so we're adding a clear line about it to our shipping information. We can't give you back the time, but to cover the fuel we'd like to offer you $15 off anything in the shop on your next order. - Mateo, Iberian Direct
